Through that community service experience, he became a law enforcement explorer, eventually serving as a volunteer auxiliary officer, special police officer and communications operator.

During a three-year enlistment in the United States Army, John attended a Leadership Academy, graduated first in his Military Police Academy and served as a Military Policeman and Investigator. He was recognized for integrating state motor vehicle laws on a Federal Army Base, implementing a fugitive search plan, receiving several decorations and commendations during his tour.

Graduating first in his academy class, John spent two years with a small municipal police department before joining the Middletown Police Department, his home town, as a patrolman.

After serving in the Patrol Division, John was selected by the chief of police to initiate a crime prevention program for his community. His crime prevention programs reduced burglaries by more than 50 percent over the years. During that time, John also received the District Award of Merit by the Boy Scouts of America as the Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor and was recognized by the courts for his innovative community service program for youthful offenders.

As a Sergeant, John created a crime suppression team the media dubbed, "The Sneaker Patrol". This rotating team of officers significantly reduced underage drinking and as a result, dramatically reduced vandalism and larcenies throughout the community. He later established "The Holiday Foot Patrol", assigning officers to shopping centers during the holiday season, which protected shoppers and their valuables.

Throughout his career and continuing as chief of police, Chief Pollinger implemented and engaged in innovative solutions to combat crime and deal with juvenile delinquency.

During his tenure as chief of police, he had the 3rd lowest crime rate in the United States of towns with a population of fifty to one hundred thousand residents.

His policy of notifying parents of juvenile traffic offenders, as well as the major enhancement of "Rude Awakening" was later recognized both locally and nationally by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Parade Magazine.

He has been awarded two Meritorious Service Awards by Monmouth County Chiefs of Police, two Medals of Merit, The Life Saving Award, The Distinguished Service Award and The Combat Cross. Chief Pollinger was named Supervisor of the Year by the Middletown Township PBA, Valor Officer of the Year by the American Legion, and a Valor Award by the 200 Club. He also received The William H. Spurgeon Award, the highest recognition presented to adult Exploring leaders at both the local and national level for service in support of the Exploring program. Chief Pollinger was also honored for his support and work with Special Olympics and the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

During his tenure as chief, Middletown Township had the 3rd lowest crime rates in the America for towns of its size.

John moved to Palm Coast in 2008 and since then has established himself within the Flagler County community. He is an active member of a number of civic organizations, including the Flagler County Community Emergency Response Team Advisory Council, Grand Haven Community Emergency Response Team and the Flagler/Palm Coast Civic Association. John is also an active member of the Marine Corps League and member of Flagler County American Legion Post 115. He is also a member of Palm Coast Elks Lodge 2079 as well as a number of social clubs within the community. John also maintains an active involvement in a local foundation which benefits Flagler youth.

I now feel it is time for me to seek elected office. I want to restore the commitment to our citizens who have so long been committed to the community in which we live. As you know, I have always been concerned about putting Good people in positions of authority that listen and represent their constituents rather than themselves. This is why I am running as a non partisan candidate for Sunrise City Commission.

As a representative of the people, I will apply these principles to work for your best interests, not my own.

Like you, I am an average, middle class citizen working a 9 to 5 job. My concerns are your concerns: Will I have a job tomorrow? Can I afford to retire someday? Will my children be safe and become successful and responsible adults? Common problems only made more complex by the actions of our government. I will vigorously attack each problem with common sense. In addition, I will invite Floridians to bring their ideas and their concerns directly to my door. I intend to be a presence in this community. With the media bombarding us with news on the federal government, it is natural for the average citizen to not even know who their state representative is. I intend to change this.

My philosophy is based on core conservative principles:

- Free enterprise and economic liberty
- The preservation of the traditional family
- Legal gun ownership
- Peace through a strong defense
- The sanctity of life

We have reached a critical time in our nation's history where, as said by Sen. Marco Rubio, those in power are more concerned about the next election instead of the next generation. Many of our friends, neighbors, family, and possibly ourselves have lost a job or are working for less than before the national economic crisis. As a State Representative, I want to be able to help create an atmosphere where business can flourish, where jobs are plentiful, where our children are prepared, not just for college, but for life's challenges, and put to our state, and nation, back on the track to prosperity and the universal belief of American exceptionalism.

Your Concerns, My Responsibility, Our Florida
<website>http://www.jefflawson.com</website>
<added>1313441794</added>
<hits>487</hits>

John P Strifler

John Strifler announces his run for District 1, Florida Senate -2012

John Strifler, Jacksonville resident, and State employee, has entered the 2012 race for the Florida Senate, for District 1. John Strifler, aged 33, has been a Florida resident for 11 years, 10 of those with his wife, Jessica. John and Jessica are Pro-Adoption, and in the process of adopting a child.

Mr. Strifler is running as a Non Party Affiliation candidate in order to best serve the interests of all voters in the District.

John Strifler intends to bring a fresh perspective to Florida's government, by making every effort to be a more accessible Senator through direct and open interaction with the voters. Mr. Strifler desires frequent input and feedback from the voters of the community by means of social media, an internet forum, where voters can post questions and comments to the Senator, and by direct contact.

John wants voters to become more actively engaged in the legislative affairs of their communities, and hopes to provide the most effective representation of those voters through their input.

John Strifler plans to advocate hard for :
The working men and women of Florida, including the State employees, and to ease restrictions currently in place which make it financially difficult for someone to open or start their own business. John also wishes to fight to restore the FRS system for State employees, and for those who have relied on this system for their retirement.

The Constitutional rights of Florida citizens and law-abiding gun owners of Florida, to include working towards the return of Open Carry rights, which were once again abolished recently, with the failure of SB 234. Whenever any issue comes before John, he will side with the Constitutional rights of the citizens over the wishes of big-money lobbying groups.

The men and women who serve our communities in Florida's Law-Enforcement and Corrections fields. John seeks to roll-back or end the practice of the privatization of prisons, which results in the unemployment of many Florida workers.

The encouragement of Florida's government to seek alternative fuel and energy resources, as opposed to off-shore drilling along our coasts.

The pursuit of comprehensive Immigration reform, to include more effective enforcement of existing immigration laws.

John Strifler looks forward to this race, and to becoming District 1's next Senator.

Mr. Strifler is ready to begin accepting petition signatures and campaign contributions towards this race, and is looking to accept volunteers to assist in this campaign.
