About the Candidate:
Terry Wilson a 28 year resident of Jennings, MO Born December 9, 1981 Terry L. Wilson is no stranger to service or leadership and at an earlier age gave his time and energy to serving in his community. Terry attended Cleveland Junior Naval Academy where he excelled in baseball, football and extracurricular activities like Trend, Orienteering, Honor Guard, Conflict Resolution Team, and School Cadet positions. He is a graduate of the Chief of Naval Education and Training approved Area 9 Managed Mini-Boot Camp at Great Lakes and Leadership Academy. Upon graduating, Terry Wilson was conferred every cadet officer rank up to Cadet Lieutenant Commander and left as the Commander of Special Forces. Mr. Wilson received his undergraduate education at Lincoln University of Missouri; He played college football for two years and ultimately decided to give more of himself to children, families and communities. Mr. Wilson participated in an array of community service projects & school initiatives as a student and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Projects such as: Project Alpha which is a teen pregnancy prevention program, A Voteless People Is A Hopeless People® Campaign, Go To School Go To College Campaign, March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon, Jefferson City Boys & Girls Club Volunteer, Habitat For HumanityHouse Builder, Alpha Psi Chapter Mentor Program, Zeta Alpha Chapter Mentor Program, NAACP, Student Government Association, Campus Activity Board Committee Chair for Special Events, Alpha Psi Chapter President and a multitude of others during the school year. He spent his summers working his way up through the ranks of the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools® Program with the Jamison MemorialHuman Resource & Development Agency. This program is a national literacy and cultural enrichment program that helps thousands of children nationwide and promotes social action and the love self, family, community, country and world. Terry Wilson served as a Junior Servant Leader, Servant Leader Intern, Assistant Site Coordinator, Project Assistant, Site Coordinator, Project Director and now National Training Team Consultant. Terry and his active mother Councilwoman Yolanda Austin in November of 2009 founded The Bonita Scott Colon Cancer Fund to raise awareness of Colon Cancer in the community of St. Louis working in collaboration with the Colon Cancer Alliance of St. Louis. Currently He is an educator in the St. Louis Public Schools, active member of The AFT Local 420 Teachers Union, Coach of the Miller Career Academy High School Varsity Baseball Team and Assistant Coach of theVarsity Football Team. Also Terry is currently the Sr. Vice President of ACOK Media Group, which is a subsidiary of A Child of Karma, LLC. Throughout his busy schedule Terry also is a member of the Shalom Church City of Peace where he serves as a member of the Mass Choir and serves on the Scholarship Ministry. His work ethic, drive, dedication, tenacity, unswerving loyalty and determination are awe-inspiring.
